Best Bubble Gum

Aim: To see which bubble gum makes the best Bubbles, has the best elasticity and keeps its taste for the longest.

Hypothesis: I think that the ? will make the largest bubble and have the longest stretch. The ? will have the longest taste.

Equipment:
  • 3 different chewing gum brands
  • stop watch
  • ruler
  • graph to record detail.
Method:
  1. Place the first piece of chewing gum in your mouth and time how long it takes to keep its taste.
  2. Chew the gum and record this time on the chart.
  3. Using the same piece of gum blow a bubble. Record on the chart as 'no bubble', 'small', 'medium', 'large'.
  4. Test for elasticity. Keep all of the gum in your mouth and see how long you can stretch it. Measure it and record its length.

Type of gum
Taste
Bubble size
Length
Hubba-bubba
1m 19 secmediem63cm
Extra
3min+small33cm
PK
3min+Small55cm

Hubba-bubbas taste went for 1m 19sec but it was the biggest in size and length

Extras taste was 3 min+ it had a small bubble and a stretch of 33cm

PKs taste was 3 min= its bubble was small as well and it had a stretch of 55cm

Hubba-Bubba is the best gum to buy if you were wanting to blow bubbles and stretch but for the taste it would be Extra or PK

Welcome to 2017

Bouncing Balls

Aim: I want to find out if there is a relationship between how high the ball is dropped form and how high it bounces up.

Hypothesis: I predict that the higher the ball is dropped from the higher it bounces up.

Method: The equipment that I will need is.
Bouncy Ball
Ruler
Stand with boss head and clamp if you are by your self.

Height of the drop
Height on carpet
Height on concrete
80cm
33cm50cm
90cm
39cm61cm
100cm
41cm51cm
Finding:
At 80cm the ball bounced up 33cm on carpet and 50cm on concrete.
At 90cm the ball bounced up 39 cm on carpet and 61cm on concrete.
And at 100cm the ball bounced 41cm on carpet and 51cm on concrete

Conclusion:
The ball bounced higher when it was on concrete then carpet and on concrete it went the highest on 61cm but on carpet it was 41cm. So I think that the balls bounce higher on concrete.

Gravity

1. An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

2.Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass of the object being accelerated the greater the amount of force needed to accelerate the object.

Aim: To make a helicopter and look at the force of gravity.

Hypothesis: The size of the wings will effect the speed that the helicopter travels.

Equipment:
  1. Stopwatch - use the Google stopwatch on your chromebook
  2. Helicopter template / paper
  3. Drawing pin
