Art

In art today we had to search up creative logos and take 6-10 of them and then choose four of them say what they are. We had the choice of Combination, Symbol, Emblem, Lettermark and wordmark and then had to put why we liked it.

Water Rockets

Today in science we made a plan of how we are going to make our water rocket, What fuel we would use for the water rocket and what things we had to put on the rocket. Here is the slide we have made.

Flight Aerodynamics

Aim: To look at the four main forces off flying and how these can be overcome.

Plane type
How does it behave?
Time ( secs)
Paper sheet, drop
It slowly drops to the ground.

1.26
Paper with fold down middle, drop
Drops to the ground faster.

2.3
Paper with fold and 1 paper clip, drop
Drops to the ground as soon as you let go.

1.5
Fold, 2 clips, rudder, drop
It dropped pretty fast

1.8
Fold, 2 clips, rudder throw
It fell a lot slower than the others

Flight Intro

Natural:          Man Made:
Dinosaurs       Rockets
Dragons         Jet
Bat                 Balloons
Bugs              Broom Stick
Birds              Paper Plane
                      Planes
                      Helicopter

Definitions:

Lift: The air pressure is greater underneath the wing than above and the aircraft / bird files.
Drag: The force than effects the speed of an aircraft / bird. It can slow it down.
Thrust: The forward movement of an aircraft / bird.
Gravity / Weight: The downward force of an abject when it is above earth.
Aerofoil: The shape of the wing on aeroplanes and some birds.
Bernoulli Effect: When a wing is in the shape of an Aerofoil the pressure builds up underneath it and it lifts the aeroplane up.

Activity 1: Your challenge is to hold a rectangular piece of paper close to your mouth, blow across the top of it and get the paper to move down. Sounds simple enough but give it a go and see if you change your mind.

What is happening? There is more pressure on the top of it s it want it lift up. This is called the Bernoulli effect.

Activity 2: Try and make a piece of paper into a simple bridge and get the bridge to rise up by blowing under it.

What is happening? The pressure is pushing it up
