In reading we have had to pick a book that we have read and do a book review on it. For the book review we have had to put the author, The book, The characters and why we liked them, What happens, Who we think it is recommend for and if we liked it or not and why. 

Writing Poems

At school for the last couple of weeks we have been learning about poems. We had a task to pick something we like and try to describe it without giving away what it is. You could do anything like a food or an animal or just something you like.

The Lorax Movie

On Monday the 15th of September we watched the movie The Lorax. Now that we have watched it we have to say what the message was in the movie, The best part and why, What we can do to save our world and how.

What was the message?

 I thought that the message in this movie was to respect the environment and not chop down all the trees because if we have no trees then we cant breath.

What was the best part and why?

The best part for me was when they got back to there town and planted the tree. I liked this part because at first they had no trees but once they planted the one tree everyone could breath fresh air.

What we can do to save our world and how?

We can save our world by not disrespecting the environment and chop down all the plants. How we could do this is once workers chop down trees they need to plant new trees as soon as they can.

Gymnastic

Today in gymnastics I did the beat board the bar and the balance beam I completed the balance beam and beat board but hopefully next time I can do the bar.

Dear Elizabeth

Thank you for taking us on a tour around Orana Wildlife Park. I thought it was a really awesome trip to go on. People were asking a lot of questions about all of the animals so I found out a lot of information about all the animals as we went on our tour.

I really enjoyed seeing the gorillas chase each other out of the enclosure and the youngest sneaking in to eat some food before they came back. Another thing I really enjoyed was feeding the giraffes and watching the Rhinos go into the enclosure. I liked seeing the Kiwis digging for food . I thought it was awesome when one of the keas came right up to me because when you usually get close to bird they fly away.

I Really liked the cheetah patterns and the way that they would keep going up and down the fence. I also can’t believe that the tasmanian devil is the same species as a kangaroo because it has a pouch to carry all its babys. I thought it was awesome that with gorillas the oldest eats first then the second oldest eats and then the youngest eats, this was a very interesting fact. I learnt that giraffes have purple tongues so that when they are eating in the sun all day it does not get sunburnt.

One of the facts I learnt is that the Cheetah can go 0-60 in around 3 seconds. Also if they are chasing there prey they have to catch it in between 40-50 seconds or they give up and have a sleep so they can consume all their energy. Once cheetahs wake up they would go and hunt for something else to eat.   

Even though I did not see all of my Favorite animals I was still happy to see the Cheetahs, Gorillas, Rhinos, Tasmanian Devils, Kiwis, Keas, Lions, Tiger, Giraffes, Waterbucks and the Water Buffalo. Once again I would like to thank you for taking us around Orana Wildlife Park. I have learnt so much and I can’t wait to come back again.
