Science Microscopes
For the last couple of weeks in science we have been looking at all of the different cells in animals and plants and we have been looking at what the differences are. On Tuesday we went out to the park across the road to go look for some bugs and we also got some leafs and some other plants that we could look at under the microscope. We were over at the park for nearly the whole lesson so once we got back we had to put all of the living things into a test tube and put Ethanol in ti and then put something over the top so that they could not escape. We did not have science on Wednesday so we had to wait until Thursday to look at them under the microscope. On Thursday first we had to get a microscope and we had the choice of two different types Dissection Microscope and the Monocular Microscope. With the Monocular Microscope we had to put the plants or the onion onto a little glass slide witch would be clipped into a peace the microscope and then you can look at it through the eye peace. But with the Dissection Microscope you just needed to sit the bug or insect onto the plate under where you look through the eye peace. When I looked at the onion through the eye peace it looked really weird because all that you could see was diamond like shapes that were all connected together. I did not have a really good look at any of the spiders or other bugs but I did get to use the dissection microscope to have a close look at them. Below are some pictures of what some of the cells looked like.
