There are a couple of rules around how to label a triangle and the main ones are around using capital and lower case letters. You do not use this rule with a RAT (right angle triangle) because you only have one of each letter on those triangles.
- The first rule is that when labeling a triangle all of the angles on the inside of the triangle must be a capital letter.
- All of the letters that stand for the length of the sides of triangles must be labeled with a lower case letter.
- You can not have the same letter next to each other. usually, the letters will be opposite each other.
You use these rules because when you are doing an equation having two lower case letters can get confusing because you don't know what one you are talking about.
